UNITE AGAINST XENOPHOBIA. UNITE AGAINST UNEMPLOYMENT! FIGHT FOR JOBS, QUALITY SERVICES, AND HUMAN DIGNITY FOR ALL!

FRIDAY, 30 OCTOBER 2026 | 12PM–2PM | EVERYWHERE

South Africa and Africa is in crisis. Millions are unemployed, public services are collapsing, living costs are rising and working-class communities are being pushed deeper into poverty.

But migrants did not create this crisis! Our anger must be directed at capitalist class and neocolonial parliament (GNU) who hold economic and political power over society, not against our neighbours, fellow Afrikan workers and other vulnerable communities.

On 30 October, people across South Africa are taking action against xenophobia, unemployment, austerity, and the politics of division. Let Us Unite, to Act as One Force!

You don't need to travel to a big march to participate. Wherever you are, organise something! Organise a demonstration, Organise a Picket Organise a Protest Action wherever you are! Every action, big or small, contributes to one united national message. It could be a teach-in, a workshop, a leafleting blitz, picket at a mall or shopping centre closest to your residence or workplace, a concert or cultural performance, an artmaking session, a food garden planting session. Get creative!

WHAT CAN YOU DO ON THE DAY?

  • At home: Along your residential street you can, bang pots and pans, blow whistles, clap, sing or hang up a poster declaring your opposition to xenophobia. Invite your neighbours to join!
  • At work: Gather colleagues during your lunch break. Hold up signs, take a group photo, organise a short picket or read out a statement of solidarity.
  • At school or campus: Organise a lunchtime demonstration, poster-making activity, discussion or group photograph with signs reading “Unite Against Xenophobia!” and “Unite Against High Unemployment And Retrenchments!”
  • In your community: Call a community dialogue, hold a peaceful street demonstration, organise a neighbourhood gathering or stand together with placards.
  • At your place of worship: Gather members for a moment of solidarity, a prayer, a discussion or a public statement against xenophobia and division.
  • Anywhere: Make a short video explaining why you reject xenophobia and why we must fight together for jobs, services and dignity.
  • Even five minutes of action counts!
