Book Discussion - The Anatomy of Hate by Revati Laul
The Anatomy of Hate’ by Revati Laul explores India’s 2002 Gujarat violence, when people were attacked based on caste, gender and religious identity. In the book, Laul investigates how a combination of politics, prejudice, economic frustration, and social pressure can turn anger into hate and ignite violence.
‘The Anatomy of Hate’ looks beyond violent acts to the conditions that allow such brutality to take hold, with important lessons for South Africa, where hate and violence are currently being mobilised in response to the country’s many challenges.
