Help us demand funding for young farmers in the Eastern Cape
.jpg)
Dear Nomvuyo Mposelwa.
I am writing this letter to plead with you regarding our crops, live stock our fields. We as Hopedale youth, asking for funds to help us start our farming businesses, piggery, crop farming live stock and everything concerning agriculture.
As the youth of Hopedale, we are dedicated to farming, but we lack resources. It is hard for us to grow because, first of all, there is no running water. We fetch water from very far rivers. But that doesn't stop us; it delays our progress and growth. We supply the community with vegetables and meat.
Funding would help us fuse forces supply, retail stores nearby, open more vegetable stores and sell many of our products to the town. Funding would include tunnels for winter vegetables due to frost during winter, an Irrigation system, Vaccines and medicine for our livestock and tractors because we cannot afford any of that. But what we have is Passion. There are very few vegetable sellers around, which is also the main reason why vegetables are so expensive.
We have been farming for a long time. The community recognises us, and everyone around us depends on us for vegetables.
We would love to be considered for funding, due to the few black owned farmers in our community.
Regards

Why is this important?
It would be beneficial to the youth, especially from Hopedale, to join the campaign because hunger is the main reason why we need to create more food. Food is very expensive, so we, as youth, have to stand up.
We, as youth, have a role to play because we are still young and there is still more to learn. Unlike older people, we just have to milk the experience from the elders. Most of us are breadwinners; our families depend on us. Most of us have never had the privilege to go to school and study further, but we are driven by hunger and fear of what our grandchildren and kids will survive on. We rely on the farming skills we inherited from our grandparents.
Getting those funds will not only help our generation, but it will also leave a legacy for future generations of this community.
