To: Jessica Kamkam, Executive Mayor of the Bitou Municipality (Plettenberg Bay)

Mayor Jessica Kamkam, provide housing for People of Greenvalley.

It has been over 30 years since a house was built in Wittedrift Greenvalley, Plettenberg Bay, in the Western Cape. People have been living in shacks for decades, with the government not doing anything to help them.  We are overcrowded and forced to exist in small shacks.

We are asking the Municipality to provide:
  • Proper safe housing with toilets
  • Running water and electricity

Why is this important?

Staying in a shack is not only dangerous, but it is also dehumanising. When it's hot, the shack gets hot; when it's cold, the cold inside the shack also worsens. When it rains, it becomes a nightmare. Kids cannot even do their homework when it rains because of the noise that comes from the corrugated iron.

We constantly live in fear of heavy rain and strong winds. We just want proper housing. Please sign this petition to help us ask the Bitou Municipality to provide safe, adequate housing for our community. We have been living in shacks for years and we are tired.
