Oppose bail for Signine Mdani for the murder of Noluvo 'Vovo' Swelindawo

This campaign has ended.

The community of concerned citizens demand that bail be denied in the case of The State vs Mdani
* The release of the accused will disturb public order by undermining public peace and security. It will be viewed as jeopardising public confidence in the criminal justice system and place fear in the LGBTI community of Driftsands.

* This community are living in fear and fear intimidation.

* The LGBTI community fear that should the accused be granted bail, he will leave the Western Cape for the Eastern Cape and it will be difficult to track him down and get him back into police custody.

* The accused resides in the same area as witnesses and even if he is ordered to reside in another area, people are mobile and the fear of intimidation remains as people are aware that the accused may not have acted alone.

Why is this important?

This is a serious crime that has taken away the life of a person in the prime of her life. Gender based violence and hate has no place within our society and Vovo's friends and family do not need to live in fear with the alleged killer walking and living amongst them.
