Tell President Ramaphosa to Stop The Bantustan Bills
Dear President Ramaphosa,
We, the undersigned, call on you to not sign into law the unpopular and regressive Traditional Khoi-San and Leadership Bill and the Traditional Courts Bill that Parliament has passed.
Why is this important?
The Bantustan Bills are a direct threat to rural democracy since they will be legislation that applies exclusively to rural citizens. This undermines the democratic dispensation which guarantees all South Africans equality before the law – one South Africa, one law.
These Bills will have the sum effect of allowing traditional leadership (not necessarily recognised by the people, and not always elected by the people themselves) to dictate how communal land is used, allocated and accessed in the interests of corporate greed and government collusion. Furthermore, these 'Bantustan Bills' are a threat to democracy; free prior informed consent and social justice for 18 million of South Africa’s population.

How it will be delivered
The campaign will be delivered to President Ramaphosa at the end of September when the 'Stop Bantustan Bills' campaign will be focusing efforts on land as our heritage.
