Build a Permanent Clinic in Mangweni Village, Ward 11, Mnquma

For 32 years, the people of Mangweni Village, Ward 11, Mnquma Local Municipality, Eastern Cape, have lived without a clinic.
We are more than 1,000 households. Pensioners, pregnant mothers, babies, and people living with chronic illness are forced to travel long, dangerous, expensive trips to Springs Clinic or Ndabakazi Clinic — often on poor rural roads with no transport, especially in bad weather.
On behalf of Mangweni Village residents, I, Tandiswa Lusasa, Ward 11 Community Representative, am petitioning for:

On behalf of Mangweni Village residents, I, Tandiswa Lusasa, Ward 11 Community Representative, am petitioning for:
- Immediate inclusion of a permanent, fully-staffed public clinic for Mangweni Village in the Mnquma IDP and Eastern Cape Health infrastructure budget for 2026/2027.
- Interim emergency relief: A fully-staffed mobile clinic to operate INSIDE Mangweni Village at least 3 times per week, effective immediately.
- Accountability: A formal written response with a clear execution timeline within 30 days to the community representative.
We are not asking for a favour. We are demanding our constitutional right to health.
This is the cost:
- Gogos spending their SASSA grants on taxi fare just to collect blood pressure and diabetes medication
- Pregnant women missing antenatal care because they cannot afford the trip
- Sick infants and emergencies deteriorating before they reach help
- Treatment default because the clinic is too far and too costly to reach regularly
- The Constitution of South Africa, Section 27, guarantees everyone the right to access health care services. Mangweni has been left behind.
